Dialogue

For some, Los Angeles means amazing weather, laid-back people, world-class attractions, and the epitome of the American dream.
For others, it means smog, sprawl, and superficiality. So which LA is the true LA?
LA has always been a place where creatives can monetize their talents. Today one in six of its residents works in the creative industry.
Beyond that, it’s actually a sports mecca, home to dozens of sports teams and some state-of-the-art venues.
With Universal Studios, Legoland, and Disneyland all within the city limits, it’s also surprisingly family-friendly.
Those in search of serenity can head to Griffith Park – home of the Hollywood sign – for some spectacular views of the city, or to Laurel Canyon for a relaxing hike.
If you’re more interested in showing off your six-pack, then head over to one of LA’s unrivaled beaches like Santa Monica Beach, Venice Beach, or Manhattan Beach.
Because it attracts talent from everywhere, LA is the quintessential melting pot. You never know who you’re sitting next to, or if your Uber driver will be the next big thing.
Grammar
“the epitome of” vs “quintessential”
What are the things or activities that you would do, if you are given the chance to go to a trip to Los Angeles for a week?
However, quintessential also means a perfect or typical example of a quality or class. If something is quintessential, it’s going to represent many aspects of the class or type as a whole.
Obviously, the two words are very similar. However, we tend to use “epitome” with more abstract nouns, like “boredom” or “success.” We can also use it with adjectives. We use quintessential to emphasize that one person or thing belongs to a particular type.
LA is the epitome of the American dream because it’s where this dream comes true for many famous people. LA is also the quintessential melting pot because it attracts people from everywhere and melts them into the local population.
1. The princess was the epitome of grace and elegance.
2. My husband is the quintessential only-child; he is very demanding and impatient.
3. Our products are perfect for the quintessential businessman, such as you sir.
